KING WILLIAM — The choir at Colosse Baptist Church is holding a musical fundraiser to help a young man who is recovering from a stroke.

The Glory Bound Express will share music at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the church sanctuary. Money raised will go to help Gray Beasley, a 22-year-old King William resident who was left paralyzed from the neck down after he had a stroke on Jan. 5.

Gray has returned home from a rehabilitation facility in Atlanta and is staying with his parents, Chip and Susanne Beasley of Aylett, while continuing to receive therapy.

“Gray has made great strides since the stroke happened,” said church member Robin Davis. “He is now breathing on his and eating with some assistance. Every day he works hard to regain the lost function of his body. He is using his arms and hands, but he still has a long way to go. Please join us for an evening of music and worship as we try to help Gray with his medical expenses.”

Anyone unable to come to fundraiser can still donate on the church website — colossebaptistchurch.com —by clicking on “online giving” or by mailing a contribution to Colosse Baptist Church, 23945 King William Road, West Point, VA 23181. Make checks payable to Colosse Baptist Church, noting that the donation is for Gray Beasley.

“Most importantly,” Davis said, “please lift up Gray and his family as they navigate this new normal and work towards regaining all that was lost.”
